Nursing 2017

The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, skill, and independent decision making. Nursing careers take widely divergent paths – practice focus varies by setting, by type of client, by different disease, therapeutic approach or level of rehabilitation. Moreover, nurses are mobile and sophisticated and work in a society that is changing and asymmetrical for consumers.

Nurse education consists of the theoretical and practical training provided to nurses with the purpose to prepare them for their duties as nursing care professionals. This education is provided to nursing students by experienced nurses and other medical professionals who have qualified or experienced for educational tasks. Most countries offer nurse education courses that can be relevant to general nursing or to specialized areas including mental health nursing, pediatric nursing and post-operatory nursing. Nurse education also provides post-qualification courses in specialist subjects within nursing.

Addiction nursing is a specialty that integrates strong medical, surgical and mental-behavioral health nursing along with knowledge of addictive diseases and treatment modalities to optimize patient care and recovery outcomes. The nature and complexity of addictive disorders coupled with the prevalence of this patient population in various healthcare settings make it essential that every nurse, especially the emergency department nurse, has a basic knowledge of the disease of addiction.

An Oncology Nurse provides care for cancer patients and those at risk for getting the disease. They monitor physical conditions, prescribe medication, and administer chemotherapy and other treatments. Oncology is one of the most challenging and rewarding fields in nursing and no two days on the job are ever the same.

Cardiac nurses perform postoperative care on a surgical unit, stress test evaluations, cardiac monitoring, vascular monitoring, and health assessments. Cardiac nurses are trained in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. In addition, cardiac nurses possess specialized skills including electrocardiogram monitoring, defibrillation, and medication administration by continuous intravenous drip.

Clinical nurses are typically licensed practical nurses (LPNs), licensed vocational nurses (LVNs), or registered nurses (RNs) who work in a medical clinic, collecting patient information, performing or aiding in medical tests, and helping with patient education. Work may be physically demanding and includes standing for prolonged periods of time and sometimes lifting or moving patients.

Obstetrical Nursing also called perinatal nursing, is a nursing specialty that works with patients who are attempting to become pregnant, are currently pregnant, or are recently delivered. Obstetrical nurses help provide prenatal care and testing, care of patients experiencing pregnancy complications, care during labor and delivery, and care of patients following delivery. Obstetrical nurses work closely with obstetricians, midwives, and nurse practitioners. They also provide supervision of patient care technicians and surgical.

Orthopedic nursing is a specialty focused on the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Orthopedic issues range from acute problems such as fractures or hospitalization for joint replacement to chronic systemic disorders such as loss of bone density or lupus erythematous. Orthopedic nurses have specialized skills such as neurovascular status monitoring, traction, continuous passive motion therapy, casting, and care of patients with external fixation.

Emergency Nursing is a specialty in which nurses care for patients in the emergency or critical phase of their illness or injury and are adept at discerning life-threatening problems, prioritizing the urgency of care, rapidly and effectively carrying out resuscitative measures and other treatment, acting with a high degree of autonomy and ability to initiate needed measures without outside direction, educating the patient and his family with the information and emotional support needed to preserve themselves as they cope with a new reality.

At times, certain contagious diseases and other health issues can spread throughout an entire community. This can happen in small communities, large towns, urban areas, regional areas, or even entire countries. Some examples of health issues that could affect a community include HIV, teen pregnancy, influenza, obesity, and substance abuse – just to name a few. If these community health problems are ignored, they could grow out of control and cause problems for all members of the community.

Pediatric Nurses work with patients from infancy to young adulthood, giving developmental screenings, immunizations, and treating common illnesses like chicken pox and tonsillitis. They work closely with family doctors, pediatricians and other nurses, to provide preventative as well as critical care.  As a pediatric nurse, have to guide proper nutrition for growth and development.

A pediatric nurse is a nursing professional that primarily works in the field of pediatrics.

A surgical nurse is trained to be able to assist during both routine and difficult surgical procedures. These types of nurses can be found around operating tables all across the word, assisting surgeons with both elective and life-saving procedures.

If surgeons are considered leaders of a surgical team, surgical nurses can be thought of as the backbones of these teams. They are there from the very beginning of the procedure to the very end. In fact, without surgical nurses, it would be almost impossible for surgeons to do their jobs well. These specialty nurses assist with all sorts of tasks before, during, and after surgical procedures.

PAIN MANAGEMENT NURSING:This Advanced Practice nurse cares for patients experiencing acute or chronic pain. After Pain Management Nurses assess the source of pain, they work with other nurses and doctors to coordinate treatment and care. Pain Management Nurses are also counselors, showing patients how to help manage their own pain, their medications and alternative ways to relieve their pain.

As one would expect, a pain management nurse is a nursing professional that primarily works to help patients ease and manage their pain.

Tele-Medicine is not a separate medical specialty. Products and services related to telemedicine are often part of a larger investment by healthcare institutions in either information technology or the delivery of clinical care. Even in the treatment structure, is usually with analyzing the reports and physical condition .The services provided on site and those provided through telemedicine and often no separate coding required for billing of remote services.

PREGNANCY AND MIDWIFERY NURSING:The Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (NM/WHNP) program is designed to prepare registered nurses to manage a woman’s normal obstetrical and gynecological needs during the childbearing years, manage the care of the normal newborn, and provide primary care to women throughout the lifespan.
